Concept Note:

Tracing the journey of English from an enslaving tool to an empowering or emancipative one, the conference seeks to investigate different roles played by English in global as well as Indian social scenario. From overbearing presence of literature in ESL/EFL classroom to structural approaches to communicative ones to CMC to CALL, English has been changing the scene and changing itself. With the introduction of information and communication technology in ELT classes, we are witnessing radically different outcomes. Language learning can take place today even without a language teacher. E-learning of English can be a continuous, comprehensive and lifelong learning experience apart from initiating a new learner into the learning of English language.

It also proposes to include the view points from all other disciplines of study so as to activate classes, accelerate language learning process and to introduce innovations in language pedagogy. This is all geared towards realizing that a well- equipped language teacher is a well-informed language learner.
