Painted a Signal Box on The Alameda in San Jose

This was a really big box and I did it in two days. It was a blast!! I used house paint ( four colors) and Acrylic tubes to tint it. That way I started with a flat blue sky, tan pants, orange dog and green top and base. then I shaded and formed it with the paints after tweaking them with the acrylics.  You can see a series of progress shots and the "unveiling" at picasa.com  My assistant was invaluable.  It was based on a painting selected by the neighborhood committee who were sponsoring the painting of the "art boxes." The original subject was Duke, my dad's last dog.
Here is my favorite final shot:

I am experimenting with wax as a medium, but not ready to invest yet. So, I am melting crayons and candles in a muffin tin sitting in an old Sun Beam skillet.
Attached is an example of what happens when you leave such a piece in the sun.
Still playing around,  I tried to apply it to an oil painting I was unhappy with. This one I purposely ironed over a rag and wax paper. You can see it on my collection on Picasa.

Can I say HELP!

But it is fun.

Confusion in an unknown world

Having chosen a Google template, I find myself stuck with certain things like this saying I posted it two years ago. So since it is saying that I think I will post a painting I did before that.  This was created from a life drawing sketch after spending a day in the Emergency room with my aged father.  As we come in so we go out and not much more verbal.

Still not in control here. Reminds me of this painting which I did in a tumultuous time. Its called "let me off!" Its oil on paper.
