Players learn and develop the fundamentals of football, teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership in a supervised, organized and safe environment. The flag program begins in August and ends in mid-October with practices held twice weekly until school starts and once weekly thereafter. Games are played on weekends at Newton Park.

July 27, 2017 - Program Update

The Flag Football Season is upon us! We're still getting the last details ironed out, but I wanted to communicate with everyone to keep them in the loop on the early season schedule.

We will kick off the year on on Saturday, August 12th at the Glen Ellyn Golden Eagles Football Jamboree. We'll meet at Newton Park (the turf field) at 8am. Individual teams will not yet be formed, so you will not have heard from any of the coaches at that point. We'll hand out equipment (helmets & flags), and run a fun skills competition for all the boys (with prizes, of course!). We'll finish up around 10am, at which point the boys are all invited to watch the tackle games that will kick off just after we're finished.

The following week, on August 15th, we'll have a formal skills clinic at Village Green Park from 6:00 to 7:30pm. We'll hand out equipment to anyone who wasn't able to make the Jamboree, and run the boys through a series of football drills.

We'll meet with the coaches and form the teams the following day, and you can expect to hear from your child's head coach on 8/17 or 8/18. Our first practice will be at 8:30am on the grass fields on the east side of Newton Park on Saturday, August 19th.

We're still in the process of finalizing the full season schedule with the Park District, but for the 1st/2nd league, we'll be meeting primarily on Mondays and Saturdays. For the 3rd/4th league, it will be Wednesdays and Saturdays. Depending on availability of fields (particularly for night games under the lights) we may play some games later in the season on different days. As the season approaches, we'll send out a more formal schedule.

I'll be sending more details over the coming weeks as the season approaches. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
