Grant H. Lathrom,
Associate Professor of Mathematics

Curriculum Vitae

I am currently an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Missouri Southern State University. I have been at MSSU since 2006.  I received my Ph.D. from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2001. Prior to coming to MSSU I worked as research mathematician for the government and still consult when I get the chance.

My current research interests include Mathematical Physics and Information Geometry as well as Multiscale Modeling of bio-chemical systems.  I have been participating in a Differential Geometry/Particle Physics Seminar started in the Fall 2014 Semester.  Links to my presentations there can be seen on the Research page.

Some of my thoughts on mathematics and life in general are summed up in the following quotes.

The miracle in the way the language of mathematics
fits the laws of physics is a wonderful gift which
we neither understand nor deserve.
Eugene Wigner - physicist

Psalms 19:1-4 (ESV)
The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.

There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.

voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
