Smoker Concessions

posted Apr 12, 2017, 7:52 AM by Kalispell Wrestling

The annual crosstown boxing smoker is coming around again April 20th at the fairgrounds.  This is a huge fundraiser for all the wrestling programs around the valley, including our club.  This year we have been given the opportunity to use the concession sales as a fundraiser exclusively for our club!  We are determined to keep our club registrations fees low and will use this opportunity to make sure that happens. That being said we are looking for volunteers to help out  that night from 5-10pm.  If the whole time is too long, we are more then willing to break things up into shifts. Please contact one of the three people to let them know you can help out.  Thanks again for another great season!

Merisa- 406-249-2784

Thanks, and look forward to seeing you there!

End of Season Information

posted Mar 16, 2017, 12:25 PM by Kalispell Wrestling

Greetings Wolfpack Wrestling Club,

Hope everyone is having a great season as we get ready to go for the State Tournament and our Dual event!  I thought I would just touch base about some important information as we wind down.

Weigh-ins for the inter-valley tournament are tonight at the sites for everyone done by coaches exchange.  There is no Pee Wee division at this tournament.  All beginners can participate and have been entered unless you have notified us.  The Novice who advance were automatically put into the bracket for this week. See the attached info sheet for more information.

Dual Event:
We are really excited to have our Dual night event again this year. It will be held Tuesday March 21st set-up will start at 6:30 with Wrestling hopefully going by 6:45. Everyone K-5 is invited to come, as well as all our coaches. We will pull out the Varsity mat and will wrestle a best 2 out of 3 take down match with someone close to their weight under the lights.  Hope to see everyone there. If you are not competing at state, we would ask you to turn in your shorts to Lori Gibson following the dual.

I have attached the information sheets that the host team has provided. There will be a Pee Wee Mixer at 5:00pm on Sat the 25th.  All beginners are able to wrestle at the state tournament, and do not have to qualify. Middles and Juniors wrestle on Friday at 4 and 6.  Novice start at 9 Beginners start at 1 then Pee Wees at 5 on Saturday the 25th.  Please turn in your shorts after you are done wrestling to Kenn Besaw, Lori Gibson, Jenni Barone, or Ross Dankers.

Open mat after season:
We are planning on having open mat for those that are interested 5:30-6:30 on Tuesday and Thursday with it tentatively concluding Tuesday April 18th.  The Crosstown Smoker is Thursday April 20th and then state Freestyle and Greco are that weekend (22-23) in Livingston.

Gear turn in:
Turn in shorts after the Dual event at Glacier on the 21st if not wrestling at state, after your done wrestling at state before you leave, or keep if you are planning on wrestling after the WMLG season.

Huge Thanks:
I just want to give everyone a huge thanks from the bottom of my heart!  This club is doing some pretty special things. I see a group of people that are willing to go above and beyond to help each other out.  Our coaches do an outstanding job looking out for all of our kids, not just their own, but all of them regardless of age, location, or ability. I have been unable to make the last couple events due to a funeral and my middle school coaching duties, but whenever I'm not there I know our coaches are going to do a great job taking care of our wrestlers. Our Parents have been so supportive of all that we are trying to do with their wrestlers and have backed us 100%.  Our special helpers: Lori, Merisa, Jenni, Chad and others that I have forgotten, without your dedication and hard work with itineraries, registrations, and keeping tabs on everything, none of this would work!  You guys are the best!  A lot of people told me before we got this club going, that there is not way it would work, and that it would be too hard to run a number of different sites.  Well we are doing it, and it is a huge testament to the great group of people that we have in this club!

As always please feel free to contact me with any questions comments and concerns.

Open Mat after WMGL Season!

posted Mar 9, 2016, 10:07 AM by Kalispell Wrestling

Wolfpack Wrestling Families,

We have started to get questions regarding wrestling after the Western Montana Little Guy season, which is very encouraging to have!  This year we WILL be providing continued wrestling opportunity for wrestlers K-8 on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 starting on March 29th and running until the freestyle state tournament in Livingston on April 30th  in the GHS Wrestling Room.
We are very fortunate to have Tim Willis able to be the lead coach at these practices.  Tim has more than 15 years experience in coaching all three styles of wrestling, he is an alum of West HS where he was a 2X 3rd place state finisher and went on to wrestle in college for University of Montana-Northern.  After his wrestling career he was the assistant head coach at Bozeman High School, as well as with Florence High School.
We encourage anyone who wants to continue wrestling to please contact Lori Gibson or by cell phone at (406)871-5312 so we can start to get a count on numbers. There will be NO FEE to participate in the open mats at GHS the only cost would be entrance to tournaments etc if you choose to continue to compete.

Spread the word to anyone you know that may be interested! The more the Merrier!

GREAT turnout at sign-ups!!!

posted Jan 12, 2016, 7:48 AM by Kalispell Wrestling

Last night we had a great turn out with around 45 wrestlers getting signed up and more coming in as well!  We are super excited to get the season started and watch this program grow!  If you missed sign-ups it is not too late to get registered,  print off the registration form on the "Sign-up forms and parent pack" tab and hand them to Principal Murray if you are at Edgerton, or Mr. Besaw if you are at West Valley. Thanks to everyone who helped registration go so smoothly!
