Gita Text / Gita Singing, in Romanized Sanskṛt / English:

Download Gītā Verses Audio (MP3) ***Sanskṛt*** from these www.gitajayanti.org links :-

  • For Downloading MP3 Invocations/Vandana (Maṅgalācaraṇa "oṁ ajñāna...") + Gītā Dhyānam + Chapters 1-6, please scroll down to the bottom of this page (click here).

  • For Downloading Bhagavad Gītā Chpters 17-18 and the Varaha Purāṇa's Gita Mahatmyam please go to this page (click here)

  • Or if you have a good Internet connection, you can stream all the above recordings directly through the internet from Iskcon Desire Tree.com by clicking here to select the chapter you wish to hear (What is "streaming"? 'Streaming means your computer plays the file while it remains on the website without downloading/saving it on your computer), or by clicking here to play all the tracks in a single playlist  (When you click the link, a tiny file called an ".m3u Playlist"' is downloaded to your computer and it will open your default music player, with all the above Gītā Singalong sound tracks in a playlist which will then play the tracks in sequence.  If you wish to skip forward to the next track, click the 'next' button (which looks like
    ) on the player, or you can drag the slider forward to the end of the current track, then the next track will play automatically.

  • This is the correct sequence to play the files (same sequence as in the Gītā Ślokas Book) :-

    1st  will be the Invocations/Vandana (maṅgalācaraṇa - "oṁ ajñāna...")

    2nd  will be the Gītā Dhyānam ("oṁ pārthāya pratibodhitām...."),

    3rd onwards  will be all the 18 Chapters of the Bhagavad Gītā in sequence, sung bhajan style, and

    lastly  will be the Gītā Māhātmyam (Varāha Purāṇa version).

Historical Links;

The first ever grand Gītā Jayanti was held in Singapore in 1998, where it has become an annual event coordinated by the Singapore Hindu Endowments Board and led each year by a different leading Indian Cultural or Spiritual Organization - this year (2010-2011) it is led by the Singapore Gujarati Society.  Their official website is www.gitajayanti.org.sg

As the founder of the project, and Honorary Secretary for the organizing committee of that first event, the organizers requested an article on the history of Gītā in Singapore for the souvenir magazine - www.gj98sg-magazine.on.to
