Welcome to 6th grade at James Giles School.  This year will be a great time to set high goals and plan for some exciting learning opportunities.
During these middle school years, your child will go through many changes physicall, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.  We hope that these changes are positive, interesting, and unforgettable.  As your child matures he/she will be expected to assume more of the responsibilities for his/her own learning.  this will include keeping track of homework assignments and long-range projects, coming to class with proper materials, and developing study skills.
Parents/guardians are essential to student success, and we encourage parents/guardians to be actively involved in their children’s education and co-curricular activities.  Be assured that Mrs. Mostyn and I will work together in an effort to help your child reach his/her potential.  Our team approach is designed to assist your child to achieve success.  In addition, we encourage you to communicate with us throughout the year if there is any way we can better meet the specific needs of your child.  You may reach me via email at jgruszka@norridge80.net or you can call the school office and leave a message. Students having difficulty are encouraged to see the teachers for help before school, after school, or during Breakfast Club.  Parents/guardians may feel free to contact me via email or telephone.  Occasionally news from our classrooms will be posted on this site.  I encourage you to check back frequently to see what our class is doing at school.
