Rains have ceased, decent picking resumes.

I just breezed through the patches. Except for the four rows in the north part of the middle patch (these rows don't ripen until late Sept./early Oct.), I would saw that we are 70-80% ripe everywhere else. The challenge is not finding ripe berries but avoiding overripe (soft) ones. The wind last night and today is helping, but we are fighting the extremely high soil moisture conditions which leads to berries that are loaded with water. So roam, test, taste, and find the ones you like best. Nice conditions for picking in terms of temperatures and cooling breeze. Pretty quiet, too, at the current moment.
