Welcome

I have a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Southampton, and since January 2020 I am a Senior Teaching Fellow (with tenure) in the Department of Economics at the University of Southampton. From 2015 to 2019 I was a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Economics at the University of Southampton. During my Ph.D. programme I was a Teaching Assistant from 2011 to 2015 in various modules in Economics. Prior to that, I completed a Master degree in Economics and Econometrics at the University of Southampton and a Bachelor in Economics at the University of Crete.

I am an Applied Economist and my research interests lie in the field of Economics of Education, empirical Labour Economics and Applied Macroeconomics and Microeconomics. I am conducting research on education, job flows, skill mismatches, earnings, migration and counterfactual impact evaluations on productivity and on search and matching theory. 

Since 2019, I am a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy. Since 2023 I am the Senior Tutor of Year 1 students in Economics. Between 2022-2024 I was the Coordinator of all PGT Programs in Economics and the Programme Lead of M.Sc. Economics, M.Sc. Finance & Economics and M.Sc. Finance & Econometrics. Between 2020-2022 I was the Programme Lead of B.Sc. Accounting & Economics, B.Sc. Economics & Business Management and B.Sc. Economics & Finance. 

I am the Coordinator of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Dissertations and I am or was the module coordinator for various first, second and third year undergraduate modules, such as: “ECON1002: Principles of Macroeconomics” (for which the course was awarded the “Vice-Chancellor’s Teaching Award-Team Award”), “ECON1008: Mathematics for Economics” (for which the course was nominated and shortlisted twice for the “Blackboard & VLE Awards”), “ECON2037: Intermediate Macroeconomics” (for which the course was nominated for the “Blackboard & VLE Awards”), “ECON3007: Applied Economics” (for which the course was nominated twice for the “Blackboard & VLE Awards”), “ECON3023: Dissertation/Project” (for which the course was nominated for the “Blackboard & VLE Awards”) and “ECON3036: Dissertation: Literature Review” (for which the course was nominated and shortlisted for the “Blackboard & VLE Awards”). Furthermore, between 2019-2023 I was leading the ESPS Athena SWAN UG Students Working Group and the Assessment Project for the Faculty of Social Sciences. In 2023, I was also a leading member of the Programme Review (revalidation) for all PGT Programs in Economics.

Since 2024, I am a Reviewer of submitted manuscripts at the journal "International Review of Economics Education" and External Examiner at Queen Mary University of London: School of Economics and Finance UG Subject Examination Board.
