Giacomo Brusco

Thank you for your interest! I am a currently a researcher at the Department of Economics of the University of Oslo, and I will be joining the Research School of International Taxation in the Department of Economics of the University of Tübingen as an Assistant Professor in March 2021. I obtained my Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2020.

My major area of interest is Public Economics, though I also cultivate interests in Industrial Organization, Finance, and Political Economy. My Job Market Paper looks at the effects of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 on the stock market valuations of companies, with the objective of studying how economic rents and market power shape corporate profits and corporate tax incidence. Some of my other work studies how people’s (in)attention to taxes affects their welfare, and how one might measure this effect; how political considerations about future corporate tax changes affect the investment behavior of firms; and more!
