Important Reminders

Prom attendance requirements
Don’t forget! In order to attend prom, students must have at least a 90% attendance rate. Students will not be allowed to purchase tickets or attend as a guest if this is not met. If you have a question about eligibility, please speak to the appropriate grade-level administrator.

What to Know about E-Cigarettes and Vaping
E-Cigarette, Juul, and vaping device use have become an increasing concern for teens across the country including in Colorado. The surgeon general sent out a warning last December due to a 900% increase in teen use. As stated in the report, “E-cigarette use poses a significant – and avoidable – health risk to young people in the United States. Besides increasing the possibility of addiction and long-term harm to brain development and respiratory health, e-cigarette use is associated with the use of other tobacco products that can do even more damage to the body. Even breathing e-cigarette aerosol that someone else has exhaled poses potential health risks.”

Students caught using them at school and school events will be subject to disciplinary action. We want students making healthy choices and with your support, we can hopefully spread the word to discourage use of these devices.

Please remember to call the attendance line within 24 hours of an absence if your student will be out.  In order for absences to be excused, a reason must be provided. Golden High School follows district policy with regard to the types of absences that are considered excused.
  • If a student misses only some classes within the course of a school day, a doctor’s note or other verifiable documentation must be provided in order to excuse the absence.
  • Students leaving school at any point due to illness must be checked out through the clinic in order to be excused, or through the main office if they are leaving for a reason other than illness.
  • Students who accumulate multiple tardies or unexcused absences for classes will be assigned lunch detention.  Please encourage your student to attend all classes, and to be on time.   Thank you!
