1. MySQL Database installation

The database is used for users management. It contains the list of the domains for which we receive mail, the domains for which we do backup MX, the users, their passwords and other information.
To use a MySQL database, you need to install the MySQL server, make it start automatically, change the administrator's password (if not changed already), setup a database for the mail system.

- Install and start the MySQL server:

MySQL database server setup

# yum install mysql-server
# chkconfig mysqld on
# service mysqld start
# mysqladmin -u root password YOUR_SECURE_PASSWORD

- Create the mail system database:

Database maintainance

$ mysql -u root -p
Enter password:
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 278416
Server version: X.X.XX
Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer.
mysql> create database postfix;
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec)
