It is an annual event that is held at the end of the summer in the village of Cookham Dean, Berkshire. This year, 2016, will be the 10th consecutive year for holding the event and with a growing number of competitors and spectators, it could be our biggest yet.
Save the date
Sunday 11th September 2016 starting at 1:30pm
The course runs through the centre of the village from the junction of Church Road and Spring Lane to Uncle Tom’s Cabin Pub. (Check the menu above for a map of the course.)
It has become a very popular fun event over the years, watched by several thousand spectators. Up to 30 karts take part, driven downhill only by gravity (after the initial push!). There are no engines, pedals or any other form of mechanical propulsion allowed.
Over the years we have been delighted with the level of creativity that has gone into the design and building of the karts. We actively encourage themed fun karts, and not just racers, to take part as they create so much added interest for the spectators
Whether you would like to apply to be in the races, find out the rules, or simply think about coming as a spectator to have a really fun afternoon out with the family, then please navigate round this web site to find out more. And if you’re worried that you may not be able to source the parts that are needed for a kart, ask Peter Bartlett (01628 485224). We may even have a spare kart available.
And certainly check the video page on this site to get a real feel for the event. We love it !!!
