Memorial Day Breakfast in Oak View and Program in Ojai - May 26, 2014

The Oak View American Legion on Old Ventura Avenue is holding their annual pancake breakfast on Memorial Day, starting at 7:30 AM. They feed hungry parade participants and anyone else in the community who wants a phenomenal breakfast with great company for a low price.
You’ll see many Oak View Women’s Club members at the breakfast, and they can always use more help. Call Barbara Smith or Leanna Kennedy if you can lend a hand.
After viewing the dazzling Memorial Day Parade, all of one-fifth mile long, hop down to Ojai for the Memorial Day program at Libbey Park. This is a fun day and a time to remember and honor our fallen heroes.
If you’d like to help the Ojai American Legion Auxiliary at their booth, please give activity chairman Nancy Hill a call at Hair 'em 646-0076.

Ventura County Stand Down - July 25 & 26, 2014

About one-third of adult homeless populations are veterans. At the 20th annual Ventura County Stand Down event, veterans from four counties gather at the California National Guard Armory in Ventura for a three-day respite from homelessness. They can partake of a broad range of services and necessities: food, clothing, medical, legal and mental-health assistance, job counseling and referral.
Please contact Connie Biggers at 646-5033 if you can help in any way on July 25th or July 26th. Volunteers are needed for a variety of jobs.
Connie is also collecting new and gently used jackets, warm vests, jeans, suspenders, belts, and wallets.
