Introductory school in Luminy

The aim of this two-weeks school is to review basics about geometric group theory and random walks. It is targeted at graduate students and postdocs.

Schedule for the 2 weeks

The schedule will be the same Monday through Friday, except for the last Friday (January 17th), that ends at 3pm:

7:00-9:00 Breakfast
9:00-9:45 Class A
10:00-10:45 Class A
11:00-12:20 Exercises A
12:30-14:45 Lunch
15:00-15:45 Basic notions (based on the needs of the audience)
16:00-16:45 Class B
17:00-17:45 Class B
18:00-19:20 Exercises B
19:30-21:00 Dinner
20h30: Beer & questions.

On the first week, Moon Duchin on Hyperbolic groups will be slot A and Laurent Saloff-Coste on Random Walks will be slot B.
On the second week, Uri Bader on Poisson boundary will be slot A and Amenability will be slot B. Dynamics will be Thursday on slot B

Exercise sessions will be in smaller groups.

On Saturday January the 11th from 9:00 until lunch we'll have open questions and conjectures discussions. Lunch boxes will be provided, but there will be no dinner at CIRM. On Sunday the 12th, Breakfast will be provided, as well as a cold dinner, but no lunch.

On Sunday at arrival, there will be no food and nowhere nearby to get any food, so pack food from the station or the airport.
