AQ WG Discussions
Does it make sense to have sub-workspaces? For example, I created a sub-workspace for the ISO Metadata activity. The thinking is to provide a dedicated space for an activity that only a subset of the working group will be actively involved in advancing. However, in order to avoid many spin-off sub-workspaces that lose their connection to the 'parent' workspace, we would need a way to aggregate or 'roll-up' the pages in the sub-workspaces. An example would be to have an aggregated list page on the 'parent' page that contains the URL resources from all of the sub-workspace URL list pages.
RSS might be able to do that. This is assuming we have a robust way of generating RSS from the Google Sites pages. We could use YahooPipes to aggregate the feeds. We would also need a clean way of reading and displaying the RSS feeds. There are a ew RSS readers available as Google gadets that, supposedly, can be embedded in a Google Sites page but I question how clean they'll appear in the pages.
The Monday time seems to be causing some conflicts. It's been proposed to use every other Friday at 1:30 Eastern for AIP-2 AQ calls. Please submit your preference to the following survery.
Your presentations at the AIP-2 kickoff got us motivated to attempt to generate ISO metadata from our air quality metadata workspaces. Particularly intriguing is the potential to capture contextual information (e.g., lineage, publications, applications) within the ISO standard. I didn't find your slides posted on the kick-off website. Can you provide those and/or other material that would help us moving in the right direction? We presently have the ability to create FGDC and SERF metadata records. So I guess that might serve as our starting point. We essentially need to figure out which subset of ISO (19139??) we want to use in generating the records that will serve the purpose of getting air quality services harvested by the GEOSS registry and also serve our purpose of capturing metadata that goes beyond the traditional (i.e. limited) 'dataset description' metadata files. The Air Quality & Health WG has also expressed a desire for an ISO overview (perhaps the same Spiel you gave during the Description breakout at the kick-off) during one of our weekly calls. We meet on Mondays at 11:00 Eastern. If that fits in your schedule sometime over the next few weeks, we'd be very appreciative to hear your insights on ISO and get your assistance in helping us understand ISO.
