I am a Junior Research Fellow at St. John's College, Oxford University. In August 2019 I shall join the Philosophy Department at the University of Tennessee.

I am a Research Affiliate with the Cologne Centre for Contemporary Epistemology and the Kantian Tradition (CONCEPT) at the University of Cologne. Additionally I am a Research Associate with the Centre for Epistemic Justice and Engaged Research at Rhodes University.

In October 2017 I received a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Rutgers University. I earned the Distinguished Scholarly Achievement Award for my doctoral research. Awarded to one student, it is the most prestigious prize awarded by Rutgers University Graduate School. 

Before joining Rutgers I earned an M.A. and M.Sc. in Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh, and studied Physics and Maths at the Open University.


I specialise in epistemology and meta-philosophy. My research areas include the nature of understanding and explanation, social epistemology, legal epistemology, virtue epistemology, epistemic value, epistemic luck, and some areas of applied epistemology. I also work in metaphysics, philosophy of language, and philosophy of mind.
