A picture of Georgi Gardiner.
I am a graduate student in philosophy at Rutgers University. In October I shall become a Junior Research Fellow at St. John's College, Oxford University. After that (start date to-be-determined) I shall join the Philosophy Department at the University of Tennessee.

I am also a Research Affiliate with the Cologne Center for Contemporary Epistemology and the Kantian Tradition (CONCEPT) at the University of Cologne. Additionally I am a Research Associate with the project ‘Philosophical Foundations of Community Engagement: Epistemic Justice and Transformation in the Context of Community Engaged Activities’ at Rhodes University (South Africa).

Before joining Rutgers I received an M.A. and M.Sc. in philosophy from the University of Edinburgh, and studied physics and maths at the Open University.

I specialise in epistemology and meta-phil
osophy. My research areas include the nature of understanding and explanation, social epistemology, legal epistemology, virtue epistemology, epistemic value, epistemic luck, and some areas of applied epistemology. I also work in metaphysics, philosophy of language, and philosophy of mind.

For more information, please see my CV and the research page. For an overview of the orientation and trajectory of my research, please see my research statement. For a sense of some of my recent research, please see my dissertation abstract.
