Citizen Science

What does citizen science mean?

As the Cornell Lab of Ornithology states, Citizen Science means that "anyone who watches birds, from backyards to city streets to remote forests, can help researchers better understand birds and their habits."

Cornell's list of citizen science project types include the Great Backyard Bird Count, Project FeederWatch, and several more, including the popular eBird digital checklist program. Another widespread form of citizen science is bird-banding.

GYBC will support citizen science programs and get members involved in these great activities.
