Our integrated preschool is a child oriented, developmentally appropriate program.  It is designed to serve children with a wide range of disabilities as well as meet the needs of typically developing preschool students.   Children learn from each other. When they are exposed to inclusive environments starting at a young age, they learn acceptance of other people and that each person has unique abilities.  For children with disabilities, inclusion allows them to experience a more complex learning environment, providing them with naturalistic opportunities to learn and practice developmental skills.  For typical peers, inclusion teaches them to be more accepting of individual differences.  The development of meaningful friendships is a benefit for all students.
We provide appropriate learning environments and opportunities that match children’s strengths and preferences. Curriculum is aligned with the Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.  Our curriculum is designed to support children’s development in the areas of:
  • Social/Emotional Growth
  • Gross/Fine Motor Skills
  • Language & Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Science/Technology
  • Music and the Arts

A speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) are also integrated into the preschool program to provide services to students with identified disabilities.  These specialists are also available to consult with the preschool teachers about any concerns they have about a student that may develop throughout the school year.
