Australian journalist Geoff Hiscock has been writing about Asian and international business for more than 40 years from bases in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangkok and Sydney. Earth Wars: The Battle for Global Resources (May 2012), published by John Wiley & Sons, is his latest book. He is the author of two recent books on India -- India’s Global Wealth Club (2007) and India’s Store Wars (2008), also both published by John Wiley & Sons, Singapore. Earlier, he wrote Asia’s Wealth Club (1997) and its follow-up, Asia’s New Wealth Club (2000), the key books which first brought many of the region’s billionaires to the attention of an international audience.
He served as Sydney bureau chief and Asia Business Editor for Asia Pacific from 2001-2006, and as International Business Editor of The Australian daily newspaper from 1995-2000. Earlier in his career, he worked for newspapers that included the Sydney Morning Herald, the Bangkok Post and the Hongkong Standard. Since 2007 he has been a freelance business writer and author based in the Hunter Valley, north of Sydney.
