Funding

Conference Registration and Travel Funding

All students selected as finalist in each of the competitions will receive a complementary registration for the Geo-Congress2012 at the rate for students without proceedings.  In addition, the following travel grants will be provided for each competition

GeoWall: Based on scores on the paper submittal, the top four teams will each receive a $2,000 travel grant, the next 4 highest scoring teams will each receive a $1,000 travel grant

GeoPrediction:  Based on scores on the paper submittal, the top 3 teams will each receive a $1,000 travel grant, the next 2 highest scoring teams will each receive a $500 travel grant

GeoPoster:  Based on the scores of the one page abstract, the top 6 students will each receive a $500 travel grant, the next 6 highest scoring students will each receive a $250 travel grant

No student may receive more than one travel grants.  If a student earns more than one travel grant, that student will receive the grant with the highest value.

Funding to Support Regional GeoWall Competitions

To encourage use of the GeoWall competition in regional ASCE student conferences, the Geo-Institute is providing $200 stipends to the first 10 regions who adopt this competition at their regional conference.  To receive the stipend the school hosting the regional competition must:
  1. Download the GeoWall regional competition kit and add required regional information
  2. Post the competition information on the website for the regional competition
  3. Email Prof Bill Kitch requesting the stipend.  Email must include:  Link to the regional competition website, faculty advisor contact information, name of hosting school, instructions on how to make payment by check. (Checks will be made payable only to an institution or organization.  No checks will be written to individuals.)
After the competition the host school must submit the final score sheet and 5 photos of students in action during the competition to Liz Schultz via email.
