Cornelia ("Cora") Florentia Louisa de Maaré emigreerde in 1893 naar de Verenigde Staten en werd in 1900 tot Amerikaans staatsburger genaturaliseerd.

Op de 1920-census kaart van haar man te Hamilton, Tennessee, komt ook zij voor en haar drie kinderen Mary L., Elsie B., en Andrew W. Freudenberg, maar geen Erna De Maaré.

Dat geldt ook voor de censuskaart uit 1910 (met twee kinderen). Dan woont bovendien de weduwe Freudenberg, 68 jaar, bij hen. Maar geen (onechte) dochter Erna de Maaré

Later that year, she had a daughter out of wedlock whom she named Erna C. L. de Maré. According to family researchers the child was placed in an "institute", but in 1910 she was living with Leopold and his second wife, Else. She later went to live with Else's parents in Milwaukee and became a telephone operator for First Wisconsin Telephone Company.

Mrs. Mitchell was born Nov. 12, 1923, in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., to the late Arno and Erna Wittich. She lived in Tyler since 1982, moving from San Antonio. She was a homemaker, a Christian and was active in the Parkinson's of East Texas support group. Survivors include her husband, Mitch Mitchell, Tyler; son, Mike Mitchell, San Antonio; daughter, Vicky Blagg, San Antonio; sister, Vickie Wittich, Morro Bay, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Ms. Janey was a charter member of Wayside Presbyterian Church since 1946. Elza was a graduate of Chattanooga High School class of 1926. She retired from REA Express in 1965 after 45 years of service.

She was the wife of the late Alton W. Janey. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Louisa Bowman and Erna Wittich; and brother, Anderson W. Freudenberg.

Survivors include her daughter, Cornelia "Connie" Janey; one granddaughter, Katherine Payne; twin grandsons, Bruce Payne and Bryan Payne; one great-grandson, Christian Payne, all of Signal Mountain; two nieces, Donna Wittich Mitchell, Flint, Texas, and Erna Tipps, Knoxville; and one nephew, Arno Wittich, Wausau, Wis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel with Dr. Marshall St. John officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

* 2017, 2-7: Cornelia D. Janey, of Signal Mountain, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, June 29, 2017. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Elza F. Janey and Alton Janey. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Payne; her sons, Bryan Payne and Bruce Payne; her three cats, Joe, Momma Cat and Mouse.
