Our Mission

The Global Economic Forum (GEF) is a platform for students and scholars of University of Wisconsin - Madison and members of the Madison community to discuss current events and issues that are of vital importance to the global economy. We aim to offer insightful analysis with a global perspective.

As a non-profit, economics-oriented student organization at UW-Madison, our mission is to foster a deeper understanding of current events and global issues through the lens of economics. We seek to bring together those who share our intellectual curiosity and harbor an interest in real-world economics. An integral component of our goals is dialogue, as it encourages all of us to learn from one another.

Our regular events include Global Reviews, Economic Forums, other presentations by students and faculty, and social events. Global Reviews serve as an overview of significant, relevant economic issues across different geographical areas and industrial sectors. Economic Forums are platforms for members of our dedicated research team to present their research and analysis across a vast range of economic topics. Not only are these events a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest research in the field of economics, but also to connect with students, faculty, and community members that share a common interest.

Our events are free to attend and open to all who are interested. Beyond attending events and participating in our dialogue, members who desire greater involvement are welcomed to join our Executive Committee. As a committee member, you will have the opportunity to either join the research team, where you will have the opportunity to engage in personal research, or join our operational teams, where you can build your skills and experience in event planning and public relations.

To join us, please send an e-mail to gefmadison@gmail.com. You will receive regular news summaries, a valuable resource to keep updated with global news, and information about our upcoming events.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
