Paperless Options

More and More we are looking for ways to reduce paper use and waste in our schools. Here are some resources I have found as well as ways my school has helped reduce paper.

A few things we do:

Our Thursday folder is pdf file comprised of announcements, letters from the director, and flyers of information. Grade specific information is put in the email as a link. The links are blasted as an email to families via Infinite Campus as a messenger message. (other grade book/ management programs may have similar features). Our 4th-8th grade students also have Google accounts, we sent TR folder to them as well. -- students are better about reading it than some adults.

GOOGLE!- we have "gone Google" this year and are moving away from paper. It has been wonderful. It also helped that we got a copy machine that will scan to our faculty server. By using Google Docs for student projects and instituting student email grade 4-8, we have been able to reduce the amount of paper we send home.  LOVE GOOGLE!
