  • Saturday - Huntingdon Contest - We will meet at 10:30 am for immediate departure.
  • Thanks to all who traveled to West Carroll or Briarcrest this past weekend!  It was a tough hard win on Friday night for our Pioneers!  Congratulations to Coach Finley, his staff, and team!
  • Tomorrow we start a optional fundraiser for Boston Butts that will be available the morning of our competition.  If you know of someone who is looking for BBQ on or around the 19th have your student pick-up a form off the band room tables.  The butts typically have 6-8 lbs of BBQ on them and are deliciously cooked by the William Clanton Grilling Team!  They should be ready for pick-up the morning of our competition around 7am.  All orders + $$$ are due THIS FRIDAY!
  • Trophy Sponsors + the October 1st Band Fee ($30) + $75 Guard Fee for warm-ups are ALL due THIS TUESDAY (1st)!
  • The October CutTime statements should be emailed out this week.  Contact Andie Watson if you have questions about your statement.  Please make all payments in a timely manner so that we are able to in turn pay our bills in a timely manner.
  • We need drinks to help offset the cost of our competition on the 19th!!!  ALL DRINKS ARE DUE BY THIS FRIDAY!!!  See last week's announcements as to what kind of drinks each grade should bring.  Make sure they have your child's name on them and place them under the table in the band room by Friday so we can place our order for the competition during Fall Break.
  • Midterm Exams are THIS WEEK!  1st and 3rd block exams will take place on Thursday.  2nd and 4th block exams will take place on Friday.  Make sure your student is studying and preparing for his/her midterms.  They are worth a HUGE portion of their grade for this nine weeks.  Marching Band does NOT have a midterm exam.
  • On Friday we (the band) have our final home game for the season vs. McKenzie @ 7!  This is a special night for seniors as they will recognized for their efforts/achievements as a member of the GC Band over the last 4 years in a special ceremony held at 6:30.  This will also be our seniors last time to perform for their hometown crowd at a football game.  We hope that many of you will come out and support our band seniors on Friday!  This will also be 8th grade for our upcoming 8th graders who will join us for the National Anthem and Pep Band in the stands for the first half.  Students must be dressed and in their seats at 5:00!
  • On Saturday we travel to our final competition before that we actually compete in at Huntingdon.  This is a prelims/finals event.  We will meet at 10:30 for immediate departure to Huntingdon.  Students should eat brunch BEFORE they arrive.  We perform in prelims at 2:24.  Immediately following prelims (~4pm) the boosters will feed the students either walking tacos or sandwiches with chips.  If students want to purchase additional items they will need money to purchase those from the concession stand.  The exact itinerary for the day is attached.  All ride forms for this event are  NO LATER than Friday @ 3pm!  NO EXCEPTIONS!  The website for the contest is
  • The room rates for state have been posted to your student's CutTime account for you to pay them.  The rates for the students are:  6 in a room - $53.25 for both nights, 5 in a room - $63.80 for both nights, 4 in a room - $79.75 for both nights.  Your student signed up for rooms 2 weeks ago and should be able to tell you how many they have in their room.  If not refer to CutTime.  All state hotel room money for both students and chaperones is due no later than Friday, October 18th!  If you got trophy sponsors for the competition, Andie Watson will be going in the CutTime accounts as she receives them to credit your student's account for amount they got sponsored.  Any additional amount will be sent to Thomas Tours for the Concert Band's Gatlinburg Trip in the spring.
  • NOTE TO THE ADULTS WHO TRAVEL WITH US:  We are truly grateful for your help and support but one issue needs to be addressed.  If you are walking in with our group, you are required to be helping with a specific portion of the show.  If you are a chaperone who doesn't go on the field, you will have a bracelet.  Those who do not have bracelets and do not help with equipment should not be coming in with our group.  Please remember these organizations are working to raise funds for their kids exactly like we will be for ours in a few weeks.
Upcoming Dates:
    • DAVY CROCKETT PARADE ON SATURDAY (12TH) @ 2pm in Rutherford.  We will NOT take buses to this event.  Students will wear shorts/polo for this event and meet in Rutherford at 1:15.  The band room will be open from 12:15-12:45 for students to pick up equipment and open immediately following for students to drop off equipment.
  • Friday, October 18th - FB @ Adamsville - The band will NOT travel to this game!  Make plans to help set up for our competition that evening if you are available and not traveling to the game.
  • Saturday, October 19th - OUR COMPETITION!!!  10am-10pm - WE NEED YOUR HELP TO PULL THIS EVENT OFF!  Please contact Jennifer Lowrance to get plugged in for this event which will hopefully raise A LOT of $$$ for our students!  Students will have to be there early that morning and will likely not be dismissed until VERY LATE that night!
