Rehearsal Schedule for the week:

  • Monday - Guard Sectional (3-5); Trumpet/Mellophone Sectional (3:15-4:30); Percussion Sectional (5-8)
  • Tuesday - Full Band (3-5); all other Hornline Sectionals (5-6)
  • Thursday - Full Band (3-5)
  • Friday - FB @ West Carroll @ 7:00 - We will meet at 5 for immediate departure.
  • Saturday - Briarcrest Competition - We will meet at 11:00am for rehearsal and leave at 1.

  • Thanks to all those who came out for the Pioneers historic win over UC on Friday night or either of the competitions on Saturday!  We had 2 GREAT PERFORMANCES at both contests on Saturday!  We always have a great cheering section which ultimately helps our kids perform better!  A BIG THANK YOU! to our chaperones, pit crew, uniform crew, and all those who helped make food or had any part in making this past weekend a success!  
  • Thanks to all those who did his/her part in selling Braided Bread!  It should take a couple of weeks for it to come in.  Cups should be here soon as well!
  • Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on both Monday & Tuesday of this week from 3:30-6:30 each night.  If you need to conference with me I will be located in my science room (221).  I will be available at select times based around rehearsal schedule.  If you need to conference with me and I am not in my room there will be a sign-up sheet posted on the door for you to leave contact information for me to contact you if you need to talk to me.  Be involved with your student's education!
  • All state room costs have been posted to your student's CutTime accounts.  Mrs. Andie will be posting trophy sponsors to those accounts this week and should be included in your October 1st CutTime monthly statement.
  • On Friday we travel to West Carroll for our FB Game @ 7.  We will meet at 5 for immediate departure.  Concessions should be available once we arrive around 5:45.  Students will wear FULL UNIFORMS on Friday night.  Ride Home Forms for this game are due NO LATER THAN Thursday @ 5pm!  NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • On Saturday we will head to Briarcrest for the 3rd competition of the season!  There are 15 bands signed up for this competition (see attached list).  Our performance time on the attached list is incorrect.  We will actually perform last in our class @6pm instead of the time listed on the attachment.  We will meet at 11am for rehearsal and then depart GC @ 1.  Students should have eaten lunch BEFORE they arrive for rehearsal and will need money for 1 meal at concessions while at Briarcrest.  See the attached itinerary for exact details.  Ride home forms for this event will be due on Friday no later 3 pm.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  The website for the contest is
    Dear Colleagues, I want to invite you and your band to attend the Briarcrest Marching Invitational on Saturday September 28, 2019 (afternoon/ evening).
  • The next band fee payment of $30 is due on or before October 1st either in the office or on CutTime.
  • The next guard fee payment of $75 for warm-ups are due by October 1st as well.  Warm-ups are REQUIRED for each guard member when it gets cold. You can pay these via cash/check in the office or on CutTime by the 1st.  Ms. DeDe will be getting sizes for these soon so we can get these ordered over Fall Break and start wearing them as needed per the weather after the break.
  • All State Scholarship Applications MUST BE postmarked by October 1st!  NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • All trophy sponsors are due NEXT TUESDAY so we can be sure that all sponsors are listed in the program for the competition!  There are many more sponsorships needed.  The form is attached.  Unfortunately we cannot accept sponsors after next Tuesday due to our deadline with the printer for our competition program so make sure you have them turned in by then.  Remember students will have a portion of his/her room money for state paid for every trophy sponsor your student gets ($25 for every 1st place trophy sponsored, $15 for every 2nd place trophy sponsored, and $10 for every 3rd place trophy sponsored).  Any amount sponsored over the state hotel room rate will be sent to Thomas Tours for the Concert Band's Gatlinburg Trip in Spring.
  • For our upcoming contest, we depend on you to help defray some of the costs.  We need each student to bring in the requested product below.  Please ONLY bring the NAME BRAND version of the requested product.  All drinks are due under the table by Friday, October 4th so we can have an idea of how many we need to purchase depending on the total number that you guys bring.  Thanks in advance!  
    We request two 12-packs each according to your child's grade.  Be sure you put your student's name on the drinks and place them under the front table in the band room :
    Freshmen – Dr. Pepper
    Sophomores – Mountain Dew
    Juniors – Pepsi
    Seniors – Diet Mountain Dew, Diet Dr. Pepper, or Sierra Mist

Upcoming Dates:

  • Friday, October 4th - FB vs. McKenzie @7 - This will be senior night for our band seniors and 8th grade night for our upcoming 8th graders.  We will meet at 5:00 in full uniform for rehearsal with the 8th graders and then senior night activities for the band students/parents will begin at 6:30.
  • Saturday, October 5th - Huntingdon Contest - Details about meet and departure time will be in next week's announcements.  Stay tuned!
  • October 7-11 - Fall Break - NO SCHOOL!
  • Thursday, October 9th - MANDATORY REHEARSAL - 6-9pm
  • Saturday, October 12th - Davy Crockett Parade - 2pm - Rutherford - This is a MANDATORY performance for the ENTIRE band!
