Announcements:

  • Thanks to everyone who lined the streets of Trenton at the Teapot Parade this past Saturday!  The kids did a great job!  I hope many of you will plan to line the streets of Humboldt this Friday to help cheer on this great group of students one more time!
  • A BIG THANK YOU to both students and parents who volunteered their time this past Thursday to help sort and distribute drinks.  I don't want to mention names as I may miss someone but please know I am grateful for your help to make this fundraiser a success!
  • Great Job by 10 members of our percussion section who performed this past Thursday night at Union University alongside the combined Union Symphonic Band and Orchestra!  It was a great performance!  You can check it out on UU's Live Stream at https://livestream.com/uu/campusevents/videos/190777878 around the 42 minute mark.
  • Fall 2019 Guard Auditions are TOMORROW from 3:30 until 5.  All students' parents who make the line for next year will have a MANDATORY meeting immediately following the auditions in the library.  The auditions are closed and no one from the outside is allowed to attend the auditions.
  • Parade Band Rehearsal for Tuesday has been cancelled!  We will rehearse ONLY on Thursday of this week from 3-5.
  • Senior Exams are this Wednesday (3rd & 4th block) and Thursday (1st & 2nd blocks)!
  • THIS FRIDAY IS THE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL IN HUMBOLDT!  The parade begins at 10:00 on Main Street.  We will meet at 9 am in the band room for immediate departure to Humboldt.  All students need to plan to arrive in Humboldt and change IMMEDIATELY into uniform so the truck can move to the end of the parade route.  We are the 8th band in the parade.  After we march students can be checked out at the end of the parade route (where the buses are parked) if a ride home form is turned in (see attached).  Ride Home Forms are due NO LATER THAN Thursday at the end of practice.  We will then travel to the Subway parking lot for students to eat lunch at McDonalds, Subway, Chinese, or Taco Bell.  Students will need $5-10 for lunch.  Students can be checked out after lunch as well.  We will then travel back to school in which all students will need a ride home!  We should arrive back at the school between 1 and 2.  This Friday will be our seniors last performance so I hope many of you plan to make the trip to Humboldt to send off our seniors on a good last note as this is a very special day for each of them.
  • The band banquet is THIS FRIDAY NIGHT @ 6:30 at First Baptist Church in Dyer!  The attire is business casual.  Advanced ticket is REQUIRED!  The last day to purchase a ticket was this past Friday.  We will begin the evening by eating a catered meal by Northside Market in Milan followed by the recognition of many of our students' accomplishments from this past year and then conclude the evening with the announcement of next year's show/student leadership and a DVD presentation highlighting our past year while paying tribute to the Class of 2019.  I hope you will join us for this special night!
  • Memory Books will be handed out at the door on Friday night for those who have paid their balances in full!
  • Remember all debts MUST be paid off in full for a senior to receive his/her diploma after graduation or a student who is not graduating to attend the 1st June rehearsal.  If a student is not returning to band and has a debt, the debt will follow them until they graduate and diplomas will be held until the debt is paid in full.
