Announcements:
  • Welcome to the class of 2025/2026 "Marching Pioneers" to our email list!  You will receive an email once a week (typically on Sunday's) when band is in season.  Remember these announcements are also posted on the website at http://gchsmarchingpioneers.org if you ever miss an email.
  • Congratulations! once again to the class of 2021!  Thanks to all who came out this past Friday night in support of them.  A lot of our seniors received college band scholarships.  Stick with it and band will pay for itself!
  • The band has a Facebook page that will contain a lot of great pictures of your students plus a lot of last-minute announcements/reminders.  The Facebook page is private so unfortunately you cannot share from the page unless you copy and paste to your own page.  You can access the page at:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/273967556115889
  • This is the last week of school!  Students will attend Monday-Thursday.  ALL are FULL days!
  • All student leaders will meet THIS FRIDAY @11 to prepare summer mail-outs for those in grades 9-11 that will contain all of your important forms necessary to participate in marching band this fall.  They will also pick-up jar lids from this past fall and also band captains will stick around and fertilize the field in preparation for band camp in July!
  • Remember any student owing a debt will not be able to attend the first June rehearsal until the debt has been paid in full!
  • I hope all of you have signed up for the Remind101 text message group.  Many last minutes announcements/reminders will be sent out via this service.  If you have not, follow the instructions (attached) to get signed up today!  Instructions for other grades can be found on the homepage of the band's website (listed above).
  • Contact Brooke Clanton at clantonb@gcssd.org to sign up for a time to work the fireworks stand if you have not already.  This is one of our largest fundraisers of the year and we need everyone to sign up for one or more shifts at the fireworks stand in order to make this a successful fundraiser!
  • We will begin our first fundraiser for the 2021-22 school year at the first June rehearsal.  We will be selling boxes of peaches for $26.  Each student will be asked to sell at least 6 boxes of peaches and each box sold a portion of the profit will go towards his/her trip to Pasadena.  Start asking folks now if they would like some fresh peaches from Georgia so you can fill up your order sheet quickly in June when your student receives it!
Upcoming Dates:
  • Monday, June 14th - 1st Band Booster Meeting of the 2021-22 Band Year - 7:00 pm - Band Room - Make it a PRIORITY to come and be a part of this great group of parents!
  • June 8, 15, 22 - June rehearsals - 6-9 pm - Attendance is REQUIRED for at least 2 out of the 3 rehearsals in order to secure a spot in next year's field show!
  • Friday, July 2nd - Rehearsal for 4th of July Parades - 9-11 am - Attendance is optional but HIGHLY encouraged if your student is in town.
  • July 3rd & 4th - 4th of July Parades in both Dyer (3rd) & Kenton (4th) - Attendance is optional but HIGHLY encouraged if your student is in town.
  • July 12-16 - Percussion/Guard Camp - 8:00-4:30 - Attendance is MANDATORY!
  • July 14-16 - Fundamentals Camp (FULL BAND!) - 8:00-11:30 - Attendance is MANDATORY!
  • July 19-23 - Full Band Camp - 8:00am-DARK - Attendance is MANDATORY!
