  • Friday - FB vs. Tipton Rosemark @7 - Students have to be dressed and in their seats at 5:45.
Announcements:
  • Thanks to all those who got out and presold tickets for the Preview Show this Thursday!  Each person that you sold a ticket to will need to check in @ the south gate (the one closest to the field house) beginning at  6 Thursday under your student's name.  They will then proceed to the concession stand to pick up their meal before the preview show begins at 6:30.  Band students will eat right after they perform.  We will order a little extra food but no one is guaranteed food unless they purchased an advanced ticket!
  • TOMORROW IS THE ABSOLUTE LAST DAY TO TURN IN A TRAILER SPONSOR FOR THIS YEAR!
  • The 2nd memorization test for the semester will be TOMORROW over the ballad (measures P-X) during band class time!  All students will be expected to play the entire song from beginning to end MEMORIZED in order to perform at the Preview Show on Thursday!  The Part #1 Memorization grades have been posted in PowerSchool if you have access and students have seen their grades posted on the office window by their assigned number.
  • Tomorrow we begin our next FULL band fundraiser.  Students will be selling Braided Bread.  Each student will receive his/her order form TOMORROW during band class time.  Each student will be asked to sell at least 6 loaves or get $30 in donations.  This is typically a really popular fundraiser that we do each year so if you will post on social media you will probably have no issues selling your 6.  All orders + money are due no later than Friday, August 24th.  I know we have a lot of fundraisers going on right now but please understand that our greatest need for money because of show design costs, guard uniforms, props, guard flags, camp staff, rehearsal instructional staff, etc. is RIGHT NOW so that is the reason that we have so much going on right now.  I hope that EVERYONE will do his/her part to sell their 6 loaves by the 24th!
  • Band Booster Meeting - TOMORROW NIGHT - 7:00 pm - Band Room - Come be a part as plan for this week and our upcoming competition!
  • We hope to have a FULL HOUSE on Thursday night to see the first public performance of our Fall 2018 Show:  "The Unseen"!  Be sure and invite your friends, family, and neighbors to come out for preview night THIS THURSDAY NIGHT!  These kids have been working extremely hard and would love to have a sold out crowd for the performance on Thursday.  The show will start at 6:30 in the stadium.
  • POLOS WILL BE IN THIS WEEK!  Be sure your student has paid his/her $15 in order to receive his/her polo for the preview show on Thursday!  You can send in your payment to the band office in an envelope or pay via CutTime.  If you have paid via the envelope system you should still see your payment posted on CutTime within a couple of days of you sending in the payment.  If you questions, you can contact Andie Watson.
  • The band will have regular rehearsal on Thursday (until 5:00).  After the students eat they will have until 6 to cool off and change clothes.  We will then meet at 6 in the stadium for warm-up before the show starting at 6:30.  The attire for the evening will be polos (TUCKED IN), khaki shorts, and tennis shoes.  This will be the first performance grade for the students which is 33% of the student's grade for the nine weeks.  Immediately following the performance the high school band students will eat.  Remember each high school band student eats for FREE!  After everything is cleaned up students will be allowed to leave.
  • We will need plenty of hands to help on Thursday night at the Preview Show.  If you can help please contact Jennifer Lowrance or Laurie Baker.
  • Our first home FB game will be THIS FRIDAY NIGHT against Tipton Rosemark @ 7:00!  Students will be expected to be dressed in the same attire as they are on Thursday night for Preview Night and in their seats in the band room at 5:45.  Students have certain rules that they have to follow at FB games and competitions (food in stands, drinks, talking to friends, etc.) so please check with your student as to what those rules are so that you are informed as well.  They will be getting these rules verbally from their section leaders this week.  We will only be marching our opener at this Friday night's game.  I hope that many of you will plan to come out and support your Pioneers and Marching Pioneers this Friday night at the game!
  • Continue to pay for marching shoes ($36/band; $34/guard)!  These should be in at the beginning of September and only those students who have paid for them will receive them!
  • Trophy Sponsorships are due by NEXT FRIDAY, AUGUST 24TH!  Remember trophy sponsored under your child's name will go towards hotel room costs and spending money for your child when we head to state in November!  The sponsorship form is attached to this email.  A list of sponsors from last year can be found on the website (http://gchsmarchingpioneers.org) under the forms tab.
  • The next band fee payment ($30) + guard fee payment ($37) will be due by Saturday, September 1st.  Make every effort to pay this payment ON TIME so that the band can take care of all of its bills that are due on the 1st.  All payments can be made in the band office using our envelope system or via CutTime.
  • Our contest that we host at GC is a little over a month away on Saturday, September 15th!  We are at our maximum number of bands right now which is 25!!!  We are expecting over 5000 students/directors/staff/parents on our campus that day!   The is a HUGE day for our band program and we WILL NEED your help on that Saturday so make plans to be on campus that day.  It takes EVERYONE to host our invitational.  If you have not signed up to help with the contest yet please contact Jennifer Lowrance or attend tomorrow night's booster meeting and she or someone will get you plugged in somewhere.

Upcoming Dates:

  • Next Week will be regular rehearsal schedule.  See the website calendar for specific details.
  • Monday, August 20th - Memorization Test over the closer (measures X-end) during band class!
