Announcements:

  • All Jazz Band folders/music should all be turned in by now.  Any folder not turned in at this point will be turned in as a debt.
  • The FINAL guard clinic before the auditions next Monday will be TOMORROW from 3:30-5:00 in the main gym!
  • Parade Band Rehearsals are scheduled for 3:15 until 5:00 on BOTH Tuesday & Thursday this week.  For parade band rehearsals, we get done what we need to get done and then we are done so students could be done early at both rehearsals if goals are accomplished.
  • Concert Band members MUST play off "Amazing Grace" for their section leaders at THIS TUESDAY'S REHEARSAL!  Failure to play off the tune will result in not being able to march in either of the spring parades.
  • We have 10 percussionists from the GC Band who are participating in a "Heroes and Villans" Concert along with the Union University Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra THIS THURSDAY NIGHT @ 7:30 pm in the Union University Chapel (https://www.uu.edu/dept/music/events/).  There will be prizes for the best costumes.  The concert is free and open to the public.  Our percussionists will be using glow in the dark sticks and accompaning the Union Percussionists during the concert.  Concert selections include...Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, Wonder Woman, as well as Star Wars’ Darth Vader and Disney’s Mulan along with many other hero and villain characters.  It should be a fun night of music so make the trip over to Jackson to support our percussionists and enjoy a great concert!
  • These 10 percussionists will follow this rehearsal schedule this week as they prepare for the concert on Thursday night:
    • Tuesday - Rehearsal with Mr. Mann during band class time (1:30-2:30) @ GC.
    • Wednesday - rehearsal at Union University with the band and orchestra.  The rehearsal will be 4-6 pm in the chapel at Union.  Students should plan to get there as quickly as they can right after school.
    • Thursday -  Parade Band Rehearsal (3:15-4:15); Dress Rehearsal @ Union (5:15-6); Dinner (provided by Union) and dress for the concert (6-7:30); Concert begins @ 7:30 in the Chapel @ Union University!
  • The last day to pay off Memory Book Balances (sent out in last week's announcements) and purchase band banquet tickets ($13/ticket) is THIS FRIDAY!
  • Teapot Parade is THIS SATURDAY @ 10 in Trenton!  I hope many of you will line the street of Trenton to help cheer on the band.  We are the next to last band in the parade.  Students will meet at Peabody Place Apartments (across from Trenton Elementary) at 9:15 in full uniform (uniform, hat, black socks, theme shirt, marching shoes, gloves).   NO BUSES will travel to the parade.  I will be in the band room from 8:30-9:00 for students to pick up any equipment they might need for the parade and will return for ~30 minutes after the parade is over for students to bring any equipment back.  All uniforms MUST be returned to school by Monday!
  • Drinks should be arriving soon!!!  We are awaiting confirmation from Pepsi.  Stay tuned!
  • Remember all debts MUST be paid off in full for a senior to receive his/her diploma after graduation or a student who is not graduating to attend the 1st June rehearsal.  If a student is not returning to band and has a debt, the debt will follow them until they graduate and diplomas will be held until the debt is paid in full.  You should be receiving your May statements from CutTime this week via email.  If you have made any payments they should be reflected on your statement.  Contact Andie Watson if you have questions.
