Announcements:

  • A BIG THANK YOU to Mrs. Demetria and all the students and parents who helped pull off the 1st Annual Gibson County Shopping Extravaganza this past Saturday!  After booth rental fees, concessions, and donations over $3400 was raised for our students for their Pasadena trip!  Each student who worked that day will get $10/hour then the remaining amount will be divided amongst all the students going on the trip.  Remember if a student counted yesterday for community service hours then they can NOT get the $10/hour as well.
  • All Jazz Band folders/music should all be turned in by now.  Any folder not turned in at this point will be turned in as a debt.
  • The FINAL guard clinic before the auditions next Monday will be TOMORROW from 3:30-5:00 in the main gym!
  • Parade Band Rehearsals are scheduled for 3:15 until 5:00 on BOTH Tuesday & Thursday this week.  For parade band rehearsals, we get done what we need to get done and then we are done so students could be done early at both rehearsals if goals are accomplished.
  • Concert Band members MUST play off "Amazing Grace" for their section leaders at THIS TUESDAY'S REHEARSAL!  Failure to play off the tune will result in not being able to march in either of the spring parades.  Non-Concert Band Members will need to play off "Jupiter" by the end of Thursday's rehearsal.  All Mass Band Music will need to be played off next week BEFORE the Strawberry Festival!
  • GC Band Night @ Catfish Cookers is THIS TUESDAY NIGHT from 4-8pm!  Advanced ticket is REQUIRED!  No tickets will be sold at the door.
  • The last day to pay off Memory Book Balances (see attached) is THIS THURSDAY!
  • Decorating for the banquet will take place THIS THURSDAY @5:30 at First Baptist in Dyer!  We need your help!  Contact Jennifer if you can be there to help!
  • The Band Banquet is THIS FRIDAY @FBC Dyer Gymnasium at 6:30pm.  The attire is business casual.  ONLY STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED IN AT 6:30 FOR THE MEAL!  2 parents per student in grades 8-11 will be allowed in at 7:15 for the recognition/awards portion of the banquet and 3 parents will be allowed in for seniors.  Social distancing and mask wearing are required!
  • Teapot Parade is THIS SATURDAY @ 10 in Trenton!  I hope many of you will line the street of Trenton to help cheer on the band.  We are the next to last band in the parade.  Students will meet at Peabody Place Apartments at 9:15 in full uniform (uniform, hat, BLUE PLUME black socks, GC shirt, marching shoes, gloves).  Students will need to stop by the truck parked across from the old jail to drop off his/her uniform bag, hat box, and instrument case BEFORE meeting at the Peabody Place Apartments.  I will be in the band room from 8:30-9:00 for students to pick up any equipment they might need for the parade.  The parade will end at the Post Office in Trenton.  Students will then walk around the court square to load his/her equipment/uniforms.  We will load the buses and head to Humboldt as soon as all equipment is loaded.
  • Mass Band rehearsal is THIS SATURDAY from 1 until 7:30 in Humboldt!  Ride home forms are due no later than THIS THURSDAY @ 5:00 pm if you are picking your student up after the rehearsal.  Buses/truck will be parked behind the Bancorp South branch immediately following the rehearsals.  Students MUST have EVERYTHING loaded BEFORE you can check them out!  We should arrive back at GC around 8:30.
  • The Mass Band Spaghetti Lunch will take place NEXT SUNDAY at Main Street Grill in Medina from 11-2.  The meal is absolutely FREE OF CHARGE but donations will be accepted.  WE NEED REPRESENTATION AT THIS FUNDRAISER!  Please make an effort to drive over and support the bands at this meal.  See attached flyer for details.
  • Remember all debts MUST be paid off in full for a senior to receive his/her diploma after graduation or a student who is not graduating to attend the 1st June rehearsal.  If a student is not returning to band and has a debt, the debt will follow them until they graduate and diplomas will be held until the debt is paid in full.  You should be receiving your May statements from CutTime this week via email.  If you have made any payments they should be reflected on your statement.  Contact Lawanda Landrum if you have questions.
