SOP related to Reopening of Colleges in Himachal Pradesh.
Government Degree College at Bassa (Gohar), Tehsil Chachyot, Distt. Mandi (HP) was established in the year 1998 by the Government of Himachal Pradesh in response to the persistent demand of the people of Nachan and Chachyot assembly segments. It has come as a boon to the students, particularly girls, who could otherwise ill afford higher education at a distant place. The college is sure to provide a major thrust to the pursuit of higher education in this region. The student strength has shown a very encouraging trend over the years.
The college presently offers courses in the faculties of Humanities , Science and Commerce. The courses at undergraduate level are offered under the CBCS and semester system introduced by Himachal Pradesh University from the academic session 2013-14. The instructions in Humanities are provided with majors in Hindi, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Music (I), Music (V) and Geography. The students of Science can opt for majors in Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Physics and Mathematics. The faculty of Commerce offers major in Commerce. The experienced teachers in all the subjects that have been introduced should see the college speedily attain the required critical mass of the students essential for its proper growth and progress.
The college has got its own buildings in the form of Arts and Science blocks with spacious class rooms, library room, Music rooms, well equipped laboratories and sufficient office space to conduct its functions in a smooth and effective manner. The computer lab with audio-visual facilities and broadband connectivity has been established for the benefit of the students. A well furnished hostel for boys with all the facilities has been made functional. The highly qualified faculty and all the infrastructure available in the college make it possible to offer students a high quality teaching-learning environment.
