(2/10/14)
Members please note that there are proposed changes to the Greater Cincinnati Athletic Trai

What is you sports medicine program doing around school?

Check out what Miami University Sports Medicine recently did!

The Miami University Sports Medicine Staff, in conjunction with the equipment staff, had a friendly competition with the athletic training students in an epic broomball match Friday night at the Goggin Ice Arena. The game ended in a 1-1 tie, with the students knotting it up with under 2 minutes left.  However, both teams left the ice with smiles; a great crowd of student athlete support, a fun bonding opportunity, and a big collection of donations for the local food pantry. We are all looking forward to another hearty competition of kickball in the Spring, and continuing our staff and student bonding experiences while giving back to our community.

Ohio House Bill 143 passes the senate
The Ohio House Bill 143 has passed the house of representatives (84:4) and senate (91:2) and it now sits on Governor John Kasich's desk for a signature or veto. This decision will be made by 12/27/12. In the meantime, the Ohio Athletic Trainers' Section along with the Ohio Athletic Training Association have come up with a "Return to play guidelines"  document. Please review this document at your convenience as it impacts our practice and profession.

The meeting was very well attended as we had over 100 participants from various clinical settings and academic programs.

Professional Development Awards were presented to 4 area students.  These financial scholarships allow each student to attend events that further their own education in the athletic training profession.
