My Top Picks

  1. Joan of Arc - 9 Min: A film in which individual frames were hand-tinted, so it's in "colour". There's some reasonable sets and they do overuse a few shots -- and there's no title cards but it's generally good storytelling.
  2. Going To Bed Under Difficulties - 2 Mins: A tramp gets increasingly angry as he tried to get undressed while new clothes keep appearing on him in jump cuts.

Notable Mentions ("Surprise" Films)

  • Joan of Arc (9 Minutes): I never expected to see the level of colour detail this far back in history.

The Biggest Disappointments

  • How It Feels to Be Run Over - 1 Min: Nobody actually gets run over.
  • Attack on a China Mission - 2 Mins: Repeated shots and no storytelling.
