Workshops cancelled:

Due to COVID-19 and the inability to hold large in-person events, the GATEway Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 GATEway Science Fair and the free science fair workshops.  As we attempted to define the details of an online alternative, we came to the realization that we would not be able to provide a quality experience for students and their families.

We look forward to seeing you for the 2022 GATEway Science Fair and the free preparatory science fair workshops.

Location & Event Information:

John Marshall High School Cafeteria
1510 14th St NW, Rochester Directions/Parking map
Enter the building through the entrance marked #9 (gymnasium entrance)

Students must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult who can assist them with the workshop activities. One adult per family or per group of students is sufficient. Please register each student individually. The rosters below show children who are currently registered for the workshops.
Each workshop opens with an informational presentation on what makes a good science fair project and how to lay out a project board. Scientists then guide participants through simple sample experiments using the scientific method, perform mock reviews and brainstorm ideas for participants' own science fair projects.

Inclement weather policy: Please don't feel obliged to come if you feel the roads are too unsafe to travel. We will assess the weather two hours before the workshop. If we decide we must cancel the class because of weather, we will post it on our website and send an email to warn you of the cancellation.  If Rochester Public Schools cancels after school activities and building reservations due to inclement weather, the workshop will be cancelled.

Roster Information:
The rosters for each workshop are shown below if you would like to verify your student’s name is on the list. Please allow at least 30 minutes for the system to update the list once you have registered.  If you have any questions or need to withdraw from the workshop please contact
