Works

This laptop is operating under Kernel version 2.6.40.4-5.fc15.i686

Basic Installation of Fedora 15:

I used the defaults selections for the entire installation.

The only issues I have found are:

The keyboard brightness controls did not work; the backlight was always on at full intensity.  Adding the kernel boot parameter "acpi_osi=" resolved this issue.

Fedora 15 does not come with the laptop mode tools; I installed the tools from
http://samwel.tk/laptop_mode/

The wireless on/off hotkey is somewhat flaky. It seems that it does not reliably turn the wireless on. I suspect the problem is in the Network Manager, but am not sure. Issue the command "ifconfig wlan0 up" seems to wake it up. There may be some suspend and hibernate issues.

Configuration Files

Fixing the brightness control:

Add the parameter "acpi_osi=" to the kernel line of the file /boot/grub/grub.conf

Before:
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.40.4-5.fc15.i686 ro root=/dev/mapper/vg_sudo-lv_root rd_LVM_LV=vg_sudo/lv_root rd_LVM_LV=vg_sudo/lv_swap rd_NO_LUKS rd_NO_MD rd_NO_DM LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 KEYTABLE=us rhgb quiet
After:
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.40.4-5.fc15.i686 ro root=/dev/mapper/vg_sudo-lv_root rd_LVM_LV=vg_sudo/lv_root rd_LVM_LV=vg_sudo/lv_swap rd_NO_LUKS rd_NO_MD rd_NO_DM LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 KEYTABLE=us rhgb quiet acpi_osi=

Added 24-Sept-2011:

Sometimes after hibernation, the wireless adaptor cannot be turned on. Under investigation.

Sometimes after hibernation, there is no sound. The command "pulseaudio -k" seems to fix the problem.

After hibernation, the backlight is reset to full brighness.

Sound levels are too low.
 Installing "paman"
Start "paman" and select the "Devices" tab. Select the "alsa_output" sink, and click Properties.
Set the volume slider to about 200%
Volume is now loud enough, but is difficult to manipulate; volume sliders in other applications will reset the volume to the 0-100% range.

Added 1-Oct-2011:

On advice of the internet, added the file /etc/modprobe.d/snd_hda_intel.conf containing the line:

options snd_hda_intel model=ALC272X

On advice of the internet added the boot parameter "atkbd.reset=1" to try to resolve hot key issues after suspend/hibernation.
