About the Project (Updated May 2017)

We are a non-profit citizens' organization with a goal of building a safe bicycle/pedestrian path stretching from Columbia Falls to West Glacier, Montana.  This will be a long-awaited connection between the Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park.

The first portion of the path is a 7-mile separated segment from Coram to West Glacier.
Funding has been raised and this portion was constructed in 2016. Meanwhile, we have successfully lobbied the Montana Department of Transportation to include a bike path from Hungry Horse, through Badrock Canyon and across the South Fork of the Flathead River, as part of their planned highway upgrade. The South Fork bridge rebuild has started and there will be a separated path on the new bridge.  In addition we have secured funding through the Federal Lands Access Program, for a 2.7 mile trail from Columbia Falls to Bad Rock Canyon.  It is scheduled for construction in 2017.

During the winter, we finished a Welcome Gazebo in Hungry Horse. This staging area will provide a safe, off trail area to park vehicles and get onto the trail. This area was is built from parts of the Old Steel Bridge and designed by local Metaphoric Artist, Jeffrey Funk.

Recently we signed a license agreement with Glencore, the parent company of Columbia Falls Aluminum Company(CFAC) to build a non-motorized, shared use path on their property from River Road to Bad Rock Canyon.
