Waymarked trails and rights of way

It is our objective to develop the routes we are walking, particularly on the Ring of Gullion, as high-level waymarked trails with legally established rights of way. To do this we will be working in close co-operation with various agencies and above all with Newry and Mourne Council. As part of this co-operation we intend to support campaigns to establish or consolidate other rights of way (ROW).

One such campaign seeks to establish a formal Right of Way which seems so obvious, most people will be surprised it doesn't exist - the path from Killeavy Old Church up to St Moninna's Well. Attached is a partly filled evidence form which we invite you to download and print, fill in and return to:
Catherine Murphy, Rights of Way/Countryside Officer
          Newry and Mourne District Council
          Haughey House, Unit 19
          Rampart Road
          Greenbank Industrial Estate
          Newry
          BT34 2QU
Alternatively bring it along to the pub on the next walk and we'll send it on.

It also came as a shock to us to find that there is no formally established ROW to the Kilnasaggart Stone. We'll be back on that one and doubtless many others.
