I feel compelled to write this article, as I believe, that it may help some people. In time, I will add more evolving information to share. This article is not a promise of any cures for Leukemia. It is a true story of my and my family's journey with Leukemia.
(...(INFORMATION UPDATE, 1 MONTH LATER:
Posted: 30 June 2011.
just have received a phone call from my brother and his wife with great
news. His blood test results are showing further decrease in the count
of his white blood cells by a 1000. His treating professor just could
not believe it. It's obvious, that the products are working. He is still
not receiving any medication or any formal medical treatment. The
medication which he was given at the beginning of Leukemia diagnosis he
only used for 2 weeks and discontinued the use, as they made him too
sick. His treating professor was informed.
He will be tested again in 2 to 3 months time. I will post new info as soon as we have got it)...)
BEGINNING OF ACTUAL STORY: 30 years ago my father's brother died of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia at the age of 53. It was a shocking news, as he was a tall and well build, strong man. Before that, there was no history of Leukemia in our family. His death was quick. One year after being diagnosed he was dead. At the time, I did not know that the story will continue today...
3 years ago, I went to see my doctor, as I had no energy whatsoever. I did not know, what was wrong with me. Feeling tired was nothing new to me, as most of my adult life I was always tired and exhausted. This time however, I was so tired and drained from energy, that I could not function. My doctor is really a great doctor and to think of it, my previous doctor of some 15 years, never gave me an iron test. My current doctor gave me a blood test for iron studies. The test came back showing my iron was very low at -7 (minus 7). Normal range for women (see table above ) is Ferritin 12-160 ng/mL. Meaning, 12 is the low minimum and 160 is the healthy maximum. Anything below 12 is too low, and anything over a 160 is too high. You can imagine how I felt at -7. My doctor prescribed to me iron injections (into my buttocks) every two weeks. After three months of injections, along with consuming lots of steak
and spinach and vegetables, I was given another blood test. The test came back with even lower reading of -6 (minus 6). At this point we were concerned. He was injecting me himself, so he knew I was receiving the iron. He said, that with all that iron I should have shown better results. He told me to start using iron tablets and continue with iron rich foods and we were keeping an yes on things.
In meantime, I have met a new friend who told me about a great herb/mushroom "ganoderma". He told me to use it. I started using ganoderma with an addition of vitamin C and fish oil. He is very well acquainted with natural remedies, using them himself. After two months, I started feeling better and having more energy. I had another blood test for iron. This time the test showed perfect iron levels. My doctor asked me, what I was doing this time. So I told him what I used. He was very impressed and I stopped worreing.
I here concluded, that I suffer from an iron absorption problem. Even though I had lots of iron pumped into my system (from steak, spinach, other food, iron injections and iron tablets), my body was unable to absorb it. However, with the help of Ganoderma, Vit C and Fish oil, my body was absorbing the iron from
the diet and the supplements. MY OWN CONCLUSION OF IRON ABSORPTION PROBLEM IS NOT BACKED WITH ANY SCIENTIFIC STUDIES OR RESEARCH, however, I firmly believe, that my iron deficiency is caused by iron absorption problem. I believe, that I have been suffering from it for over 20 years, but it was never diagnosed. Since then, if I don't take my these products for a while, I can certainly feel it, by lucking energy. Which remains me to take it, and in a few days I feel well again. So, over the past 3 years, it is definitely working for me and I am feeling great. I never get any flues and cold. Needless to say, I do not have to worry about other complications such as anemia or worse, leukemia.
A year ago, my family was struck with very sad news. My brother, who lives in Germany, was diagnosed with Chronic Leukemia (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia). He is 52 years of age. He is 5 foot 9, around 179 cm tall, well build. Not that has to do with anything, but he is a healthy looking man and his general health was good. However, in recent times he was complaining of feeling week and tired, heaving head aches. He took it very bad, as one can imagine.
At this point I realised, that we have got a genetic problem, relating it to my own iron deficiency and my uncles death from Leukemia.
When my brother was diagnosed with leukemia, his white cell count was 15,000 (fifteen thousand). After two months, it grew to 22,000 and after the next two months it furher grew to 30,000.
I informed my brother of my own iron absorption problem and experience, and asked him, if he will be willing to try the products, which helped me. At this point he was willing to try anything. I send him Ganoderma, Vit.C and fish oil. He was taking 2 capsules of ganoderma, 4,000 mg of Vit C
and 4,000 mg of Fish oil per day. He started taking these four months after he was first diagnosed with leukemia. After over 3 months of using it, his test showed a result of 27,000 white blood cells, a reduction of 3,000. His treating professor congratulated him and asked, what he was doing. He said, that he never had a case like it and it is unheard of. He said, in the best scenario, the white blood cells count stays at the same level, but it never reduces. Given the fact, that currently Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia is incurable and the 5-year survival rate is 75%, the reduction of 3 thousand is nothing short of a miracle.
I told my brother, that with these results, and my own recovery from my own iron deficiency problem, I am confident, that he will totally recover from Leukemia.
Please understand, that my own and my brother's cases are the only cases I can speak about. However, it gives me some hope for others. The amount of the above mentioned products he was using is not any amount prescribed, but only how much he and I are. Further, there is no proof that these products are actually the ones that are contributory and or responsible for reducing his white blood cells. However, so far, he has not been given any medications or treatments. He was given medication and had taken it for only 2 weeks. They made him that sick, that he told his treating professor, that he can't use them. So, there is no other explanation. You can draw your own conclusions.
As for myself, I am still learning about the processes in my and my brother's body and how is it, that these products are helping us. For myself, I have concluded, that we both have a genetic problem streaming from my father side of the family, ie his brother. I believe, that the first sign for us is the iron absorption problem. Prolonged deprivation of iron causes further problems. In my brother's case, it led to Leukemia. The good news is, that we are both very lucky, as there is something which is helping us. More information will be posted in 3 months with the support of new blood test.
PLEASE Note: my uncle, myself and my brother, unfortunately, are smokers, so our genetic predisposition is made worse by the tabacco consumption. The smoking is most likely the sole cause of the results. (I am working on quitting yet again)
No single known cause for all types of leukemia exists. Viruses have been linked to some types of the disease. Science claims also, that some people have a genetic predisposition to developing leukemia. Leukemia, like other cancers, results from somatic mutations in the DNA. These mutations may occur spontaneously or as a result of exposure to radiation or carcinogenic substances, and are likely to be influenced by genetic factors.
In 2000, approximately 256,000 children and adults around the world developed some form of leukemia, and 209,000 died from it. About 90% of all leukemias are diagnosed in adults.
Clinically and pathologically, leukemia is subdivided into a variety of large groups. The first division is between its acute and chronic forms:
- Acute leukemia
- Chronic leukemia Some people have a genetic predisposition towards developing leukemia. This predisposition is demonstrated by family histories and twin studies. The affected people may have a single gene or multiple genes in common. In some cases, families tend to develop the same kind of leukemia as other members; in other families, affected people may develop different forms of leukemia or related blood cancers.
GANODERMA HEALTH NEWS
Several species of Ganoderma have been used in traditional Asian medicines for thousands of years. Collectively, the Ganoderma are being investigated for a variety of potential therapeutic benefits:
- immunoregulatory effects
- antioxidant activities
- liver-protecting effects
- hypoglycemic effects
- antibacterial effects
- antiviral effects
- antifungal effects
- reducing blood cholesterol
- inhibiting blood vessel regeneration (angiogenesis)
- antifibrotic effects
- protection against radiation-induced damage
- reducing lower urinary tract symptoms
- increasing endurance for vigorous exercise
vigorous exercise
- Lingzhi research and therapeutic usage
Lingzhi may possess anti-tumor, immunomodulatory and immunotherapeutic activities, supported by studies on polysaccharides, terpenes, and other
bioactive compounds isolated fromfruiting bodies and mycelia of this fungus (reviewed by R. R. Paterson and Lindequist et al.). It has also been found to inhibit platelet aggregation, and to lower blood pressure (via inhibition of angiotensin-converting enzyme), cholesterol, and blood sugar.Additional studies indicate that ganoderic acid has some protective effects against liver injury by viruses and other toxic agents in mice, suggesting a potential benefit of this compound in the treatment of liver diseases in humans, and Ganoderma-derived sterols inhibit lanosterol 14α-demethylase
activity in the biosynthesis of cholesterol . Ganoderma compounds inhibit 5-alpha reductase activity in the biosynthesis of dihydrotestosterone.
Ganoderma is classified as an Adoptogen. An adaptogen is a herb product that is a plant derivative. Adaptogens increase resistance to stress, trauma, anxiety and fatigue. They are rejuvenating herbs, qi tonics, rasayanas, or restoratives. One specific characteristic of adaptogen action is that its effect is believed to help the body return to a balanced state.
