Music Charms the Soul

Even though the month is coming to a close, I still want to take the time to wish you all a very Happy Musicianship Month. This year, I personally feel that the Gamma Omicron Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi has done a lot to improve our own standards for musicianship, and our hopes for others. In the beginning of the month, our newly appointment musicianship chair, and my favorite little Miranda planned a mock recital. Although I was unable to attend the event because I had to work, I heard nothing but good things about the event. As brothers, we sat down and listened to each other, and other musicians perform and gave helpful advice. Personally, I believe that this kind of event was needed as the music majors prepare for the various performances that they have.

Last year, when I acted as the Vice President as the Gamma Omicron chapter, I had the active brothers make a small poster with a favorite quote about music, or what they loved about music. These posters still hang on the bulletin board in the band room, and I made it my duty to read one each time I was in the band room. Music speaks for us when words fail. I do believe that music speaks for us in ways that words cannot.

So as National Musicianship Month comes to a close, as Active brothers we should continue to concentrate on our musicianship, and help each other grow as musicians.
