Lady Captain's Updates

Dear Members

The Galway Bay Ladies Club AM AM is taking place on  Sunday 17th May, 2015 and kindly sponsored by Renvyle House Hotel, Connemara.  The Ladies Club would like to thank Ronnie Counihan, General Manager, Renvyle House Hotel for his continued supportof Galway Bay Ladies Club.  www.renvyle.com

It is intended the proceeds of the Ladies Club AM AM will be used between our chosen charity Positive Mental Health Galway, Galway Bay Ladies Club and the donation of a Defibrillator for our new clubhouse.

As you appreciate this is our main source of fundraising with the income generated very important to the ladies club and to our chosen charity.

We would appreciate if you could promote externally and support this Am Am to ensure its success, by organising and booking teams (€120)and sponsoring tee boxes, (€50)

The Am Am is priced at €120 per team of 4 and bookings can be made through Galway Bay Golf Resort on 091 790711, please note payment required on booking.

Our chosen charity for 2015 is Positive Mental Health (PMH), Galway, a charity which was set up in 2005 at a time of escalation in tragic young deaths. The initiative was driven by the goal of PMH which was to implement positive health promotion as early as possible in schools through training and education and to reduce the stigma attached to mental health matters. To this end, PMH provides training in group skills to volunteers who deliver well thought-out modules on mental and emotional issues to secondary schools in Galway City and County, so please make every effort to support this very worthy cause.

Dear Ladies

I would like to thank everyone who participated in our NBCRI Charity day in Galway Bay last Wednesday. We had 44 teams with 176 people playing golf on the day. Thanks so much to our lady members who brought teams from Galway, Swinford, Westport and many other parts of the country, it was a great turnout for a great cause.

To the golfers, everyone who bought raffle tickets and to those who gave donations and prizes for the raffle,  thank you so much. Thanks to Patricia, Jacinta, Sharon, Angela, Breda, Jeanette, Eileen and President Bernie for doing the table for the day. Thanks to the Tuesday Club and especially Hilary and Kay for the beautiful hamper and Easter egg that you donated to the raffle.  Thanks to Mandy, Hilary, Margaret, Patricia and Fiona for doing the cards.

It was a huge success and I'm delighted to advise we raised €3,600.

This would not have happened without the support of our great Ladies Club, the Men's Club and the entire team at Galway Bay who could not have done enough on the day.

So once again a big thank you and thank you so much for your support.

Last Tuesday morning we held our first outing of the Tuesday Club which was a really enjoyable event. We were fortunate with the weather which was chilly but dry and calm! Fifteen ladies joined up and played. Cards were drawn so some of us  got to play with people we had not played with for  quite some time. Faces appeared who would not  normally darken the course until Easter! All in all a fun morning of golf. We would love to see any of the Ladies free to play on a Tuesday morning. We plan to change the format every so often,i.e.; play Stroke, have a Scramble, Foursomes etc.. maybe even Match Play if possible!. If you are interested in joining us please just turn up at 10.10 am for the draw . Our tee times are 10.30 and 10.38 am.

Happy New Year 2015

Dear Ladies

It is that time of year again and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families, good health and happiness this Christmas and throughout 2015. I am looking forward to serving as Lady Captain of our great club and I will endeavor to represent the club in your best interests at all times.

Golf is what it is all about and I hope as many of you can get out and enjoy the game and of and participate in team events and competitions as much as you can over the year.

As usual there will be competitions and events throughout the year to suit everybody. I would greatly appreciate your involvement and support.

We have a great ladies committee for 2015 and if there are any areas or things which you feel should be addressed do not hesitate to contact me or one of the committee members.

With your support the golf and social aspect associated with it should make for a very enjoyable year.

With all my best wishes to you for a very happy Christmas and New Year. I look forward to a great year, both on and off the golf course, with a great course, a new clubhouse, a Lady President, Bernie, but most importantly a great ladies club that I’m proud to be Captain off.

All the best
