The East Multnomah County Bicycle Tourism Initiative engages a diverse coalition of East Multnomah County businesses, cities, public agencies, and nonprofit organizations in a collaboration to leverage resources for economic development and job creation by increasing bicycle tourism.

The Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center recognizes the great potential of bicycle tourism to support and grow our region's economic future.  The East Multnomah County Bicycle Tourism Initiative is a collaborative effort to realize the vision of our region as a bicycle tourism destination.

The immediate-term Bicycle Tourism implementation projects include:
  • Champion the Bicycle-Friendly Business program, initially targeting lodging and hospitality establishments
  • Identify and promote three bicycle tourism routes and accompanying infrastructure for the summer 2014
  • Leverage regional marketing resources to share the East Multnomah County bicycling experience with target markets
  • Coordinate with partners to install needed short-term facilities that enhance user experiences on promoted routes, such as water, restrooms, and bicycle parking
  • Lay foundation for one new event in 2015
Additional implementations projects and more information can be found in Appendix A of the Executive Summary or in the full report available on the Project Files and Resources page.

The Chamber will lead implementation of some projects and facilitate implementation of others with project partners.
