Virtual amateur radio

This section looks briefly at virtual amateur radio systems. I am aware of just two: Hamsphere and QSOnet, both which offer a very real simulation of amateur radio right down to a full simulation of a transceiver but running on a PC or tablet. These allow you to tune around virtual amateur bands, call CQ, work real people similarly equipped. There is no connection to the real amateur bands and all the communications is via the internet.

Some are also using Network Radios to connect to systems such as Echolink.
