Enhancing Your Sauna

DETOXIFICATION occurs in two stages.  The FIRST STAGE strengthens circulation and immunity, and begins when you perspire lightly.  The SECOND STAGE begins when your internal temperature increases and you perspire more heavily.  It requires many frequent saunas long enough to induce the second stage to detoxify heavy metals, chemicals, pesticides, chronic infections, and to reduce tumors including some cancers.  During detoxification you may experience a temporary rash, headache, or flare-ups of previous health problems as they are released; discuss your reactions with Freddie WindRiver, RN, or your physician.  This aid to natural detoxification is safer, and improves general health better, than focusing on one offending toxin.  Occasional hair analysis of toxins helps you track this process (see one person’s experience on pages 95-104 of Sauna Therapy by Dr. Larry Wilson).

During your sauna, breathe deeply and slowly, visualize healing, and maintain good posture to prevent back strain.  Keep your head erect,  relax your shoulders and arms, and collapse your chest and back.  Visualize a straight line between your ear, shoulder, and pelvis; rock your pelvis occasionally to prevent back strain.  Low musical tones may stimulate detoxification.

In order to be maintained, detoxification must be followed by a good diet, attention to exercise and deep breathing, avoidance of stimulants, and stress management.   Get 9 hours of sleep each night, avoid physical exhaustion, and reduce energy-depleting fear, worry, anger, quilt, and resentment.  Sauna therapy efficiently eliminates toxins from the skin, liver, kidneys, and lungs; add colonics for bowel cleansing.  People who lack essential minerals in their diet, or who loose them as a result of stress, will absorb more of them in a toxic form from the environment.
