Choose the correct office furniture to prevent injury

Companies have a duty of care to their employees, and that extends all the way to the furniture at work they use on a day to day basis. It’s not only important they feel comfortable at work, but also that the furniture they use will help prevent injury.
Risk assessments should be undertaken for all employees so their requirements can be met to ensure they are safe and comfortable at work. For example, those who are smaller in stature may well need a foot stool to help them sit comfortably at their desk.
One of the most important pieces of furniture at work, particularly in an office, is the office chair. For those who sit behind a desk for the majority of the day, it’s imperative that they are provided with a chair that won’t make them stiff or sore if they’re sat down for too long. Neck and back problems are common in offices, and this is often due to having unsuitable offices chairs.
It’s important to do plenty of research into the different types of chair as they can differ greatly. Features such as height adjustment, arm rest adjustment and back rest adjustment are just some of things that should be taken into account, as all these can help to prevent injury. Chairs with extra lumber support are also a good idea for those who think they need it for whatever reason.
Just spending a little extra time looking through the various office furniture options can lead to a much happier and healthier workforce.
