Justin Sogoian - Pastor to Fuel

How did you get involved in Fuel?

I got involved in Fuel when it first started back when it first started in the mid 90’s and it was called “Gen-X.” My wife (whom I was dating at the time) said that there was a new ministry at Mariners focused on 20 somethings so we decided to go. It was in the backyard of Jeff and Jason Clark’s house in Newport Beach. There was a band and at least 100 people there. Keith Page was the pastor at the time, and little did I know that a short time later I’d be leading this community!

Why is Fuel an important ministry to you?

Fuel is very important to me because it gave me a place to connect with other believers my age when I was in my 20’s. This life stage is so important because for most of us, it is a time to be out on our own. We have a thousand decisions that need to be made and not a lot of good/relevant places to seek answers. Fuel is designed for people who want more out of life than what it gives us.

What's your favorite Fuel moment or memory?

A favorite Fuel memory would be the 2008 Fuel Snow 20 trip. I have never such a great group of leaders work together! I was so impressed with the care and concern that the leadership team put in that weekend to make sure that everyone connected with each other and experienced Jesus in so many different ways. Everyone involved had a servant’s heart, and that encouraged me follow Jesus even more.
