Fatema Tuz Zohora, PhD
I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Princess Margaret Cancer Center, UHN, Toronto, Canada. I served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh. I obtained Ph.D. in 2022 from David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science, University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. I obtained my B.Sc.Engg. and M.Sc.Engg. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from BUET in 2012 and 2014, respectively.
My research interests include the application of deep learning in the domain of Single-cell analysis, Proteomics, Genomics, and other Computational Biology problems. Currently I am working on Single-cell data (scRNAseq, scATACseq, etc.) to pinpoint cell-cell communication (CCC) in anti-cancer drug resistance of cancer cells. Technically, I am using graph neural networks (GNN) to develop deep learning based integrative single-cell multi-omic methods. My PhD research works involved application of deep learning in Quantitative Proteomics, that has considerable promise in disease biomarker detection. Besides working in Bioinformatics, I have research experience in Stringology, Metaheuristics, Distributed Systems, and Human Computer Interaction.
