Let's give happiness a chance!

I am (senior) happiness economist at the Research Division of STATEC, the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies of Luxembourg. I lead the Research Unit on Well-being and Entrepreneurship, and serve as deputy director of the Research Division. My main field of research is how to build a socially and environmentally sustainable society.

My work aims at identifying evidence-based policies to promote people's well-being and sustainable development. I also contribute to methodological survey research. My works have been published on journals such as Oxford Economic Papers, World Development, Ecological Economics, Cambridge Journal of Economics, Journal of Happiness Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, Applied Research in Quality of Life Studies, and Social Indicators Research.

My adventure in the field of economics started with my Ph.D. dissertation on social capital, economic growth and well-being. I hold a PhD in development economics from the University of Firenze (Italy). Before joining STATEC, I was a post-doctoral researcher at CEPS/Instead (Luxembourg) and a DAAD fellow at GESIS (Germany). I am a member of the World Wellbeing Panel, of the Australian Centre on Quality of Life, of the International Society for Quality of Life Studies, and an external expert of Eurofound. I recently contributed to the works of the third UN-HABITAT expert group on Quality of Life Initiative (United Nations Human Settlements Programme).
