Out in the Garage
Cleaning and organizational tips for your vehicles and garage space

  • Use empty coffee cans cans as garage tool holders. Remove both the top and bottom of the can with a can opener. Nail the can to the wall and insert your tools' handles. Now the tools will no longer tip over when they are leaning up against a wall.
  • If your garage floor is made of asphalt, the only safe way to clean it is with a detergent cleaner. Turpentine, paint thinner, gasoline and kerosene all will dissolve the asphalt and cause it to deteriorate.
  • To protect the finish on your garage door, apply car wax. This will help repel the dirt and moisture.
  • Consider hanging big items such as bikes and lawn chairs on the wall. There are great hooks you can purchase for just that purpose.
  • To keep damp grass from sticking to your lawnmower blades, spray clean blades with non-stick cooking spray.
