• Math Skills Term II - Heggarty Percent and Proportional RelationshipsIn term II, students deepen their understanding of ratios and proportional relationships  by solving a variety of percent problems. They convert between fractions, decimals, and percents to further develop a conceptual understanding of percent and use algebraic expressions and equations to solve multi-step percent problems. An initial focus on relating 100% to “the whole” serves as a foundation for students.  Students begin  by solving problems without using a calculator to develop an understanding of the reasoning underlying the calculations.   To develop a conceptual understanding, students use visual models and equations, building on their earlier work with these.  As the lessons and topics progress and students solve multi-step percent problems algebraically with numbers. CCLS       Math ...

• Humanities Term III (2017-18) - Debrocke A people called the Egyptians settled in the Nile River valley of northeast Africa. The Egyptian civilization lasted longer than that of Mesopotamia and became a rich, powerful, and united nation. • Science Term 2 (Winter 2017-18) - DiFilippo In term two, seventh grade science will consist of three(3) major units using the KnowAtom Science Modules. These units are Cell Functions, Cell Division, and Rocky Shore Ecosystems. Students will use the Scientific Method to investigate questions and the Engineering Design Process to solve problems. • Be Prepared for MCAS PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING:1. Students, get at least 8 hours of sleep for several nights before the MCAS.2. Ensure that you are present at school for the MCAS testing days. For ELA it is Wed 4/11 and Thurs 4/12.3. Make sure to eat a healthy breakfast on MCAS testing days. Free breakfast is also offered in the Frost School cafeteria each morning.
